A light, warm Village Style Hall

Established in 2019

Claire and Ed opened the doors to the newly renamed ‘Todfellows Space’ in September 2019. They had recently purchased it from the Todmorden branch of the Oddfellows Society.

“When we moved to Calderdale in 2018 I was looking for a suitable venue for my yoga classes” says Claire, founding director of Padma Yoga. “Having previously had the additional stress of running a yoga studio, I was really just looking for a space for hire. Then I noticed the New Oddfellows Hall was up for sale. When I first visited the hall, I knew it would make a lovely space to teach in, but it was more than I needed for just a few classes.”

After discussing it with her husband, Ed, they agreed that it would make a great community space and so they decided to make an offer! The building is the perfect space for Claire to teach her classes and it also provides a warm and welcoming space for other community groups.

“We announced the new space by running a competition on Facebook to give it a new name with a prize of a meal at a local eatery” explains Ed “The response from local groups has been amazing and we now run regular events, from gong baths to children’s groups, dance classes to support groups, along with family parties and writing workshops.”

Ed holliday

Ed is more likely to be at the Todfellows Space when there is some maintenance to do. He loves changing taps, taking down ceilings and ripping off the skirting boards!
